Minimum age — set by where you live
Hello World lab accepts a member only from the age at which the law where they live lets them agree to a service like this one on their own:
- Republic of Korea — 14 (개인정보 보호법 §22-2)
- European Union and the EEA — between 13 and 16, set country by country (GDPR Art.8); the one where you live is the one that counts for you
- United States — 13 (COPPA)
- India — 18 (Digital Personal Data Protection Act 2023, s. 9)
- Anywhere else — the age your law sets for agreeing on your own; and never under 13, wherever you live
Age is self-declared; we do not collect government ID numbers or documents. You must tick the age box before the first sign-in (GitHub or Google). The box reads «I am old enough where I live — Korea 14+, EU 13–16 by country, US 13+, India 18+», and ticking it is your statement that you meet the age that applies to you — not merely one of the numbers on the list. The server records that the box was ticked, and when, on your account.
If we learn a member is too young
If we learn by any route — a guardian's message, a report, something the member wrote — that a member is under 13, or under the age that applies where they live, the account is closed and its records deleted, as §8 of the privacy policy describes. We do not keep a child's data while we decide; we delete and then answer.
Guardians
For members who are minors where they live, guardian consent may be required by law. This version relies on self-confirmation only. Access may be blocked if a false confirmation comes to light.
Where a guardian's permission is required, you must actually have it. We have no way to check that, and we would rather say so than run a screen that pretends to. A guardian who tells us at ai@hello-world-lab.com that a child of theirs holds an account here has the account closed and its records deleted — and a guardian may ask for that whether or not the child agreed to it. See §8 of the privacy policy for what that removes.
What we do not do
We do not verify age against any register, and we do not ask for a document. There is no age screen beyond the box you tick. We do not collect a date of birth.

최소 나이 — 사는 곳이 정합니다
Hello World lab은 사는 곳의 법이 «이런 서비스에 혼자 동의할 수 있다»고 정한 나이부터 회원을 받습니다:
- 대한민국 — 14세(개인정보 보호법 제22조의2)
- 유럽연합·유럽경제지역 — 나라별로 13~16세(GDPR 제8조); 당신이 사는 나라의 나이가 당신에게 적용됩니다
- 미국 — 13세(아동 온라인 개인정보 보호법)
- 인도 — 18세(디지털 개인정보 보호법 2023 제9조)
- 그 밖의 나라 — 그 나라 법이 혼자 동의할 수 있다고 정한 나이; 그리고 어디에 살든 13세 미만은 안 됩니다
나이는 스스로 밝히는 것이며, 신분증 번호나 서류는 받지 않습니다. 첫 로그인(GitHub 또는 Google) 전에 나이 확인란에 표시해야 합니다. 확인란은 «나는 사는 곳의 나이 기준을 넘었다 — 대한민국 14세 이상 · 유럽연합 나라별 13~16세 · 미국 13세 이상 · 인도 18세 이상»이라 적혀 있고, 표시하는 것은 목록의 숫자 하나가 아니라 자기에게 적용되는 나이를 넘었다는 진술입니다. 서버는 표시했다는 사실과 시각을 계정에 기록합니다.
회원이 너무 어리다는 것을 알게 되면
보호자의 연락, 신고, 회원이 쓴 글 — 어떤 경로로든 회원이 13세 미만이거나 사는 곳의 나이에 못 미친다는 것을 알게 되면, 개인정보 처리방침 8절대로 계정을 닫고 기록을 지웁니다. 판단하는 동안 아동의 데이터를 붙들어 두지 않고, 먼저 지우고 답합니다.
보호자
사는 곳에서 미성년자인 회원은 법에 따라 보호자의 동의가 필요할 수 있습니다. 이 판은 본인의 확인에만 의지합니다. 거짓 확인이 드러나면 이용이 막힐 수 있습니다.
보호자의 허락이 필요한 곳에서는 실제로 그 허락을 받아야 합니다. 우리는 그것을 확인할 방법이 없고, 확인하는 척하는 화면을 두느니 그렇다고 말하는 쪽을 택합니다. 보호자가 ai@hello-world-lab.com으로 자기 자녀가 여기 계정을 갖고 있다고 알려 주면 계정을 닫고 기록을 지웁니다 — 자녀가 동의하든 않든 보호자가 요청할 수 있습니다. 무엇이 지워지는지는 개인정보 처리방침 8절에 있습니다.
우리가 하지 않는 것
어떤 명부와도 나이를 대조하지 않고, 서류를 요구하지 않습니다. 표시하는 확인란 말고 나이 화면은 없습니다. 생년월일을 받지 않습니다.
